Thank you KOTA TV

My doctor said he saw a story on KOTA TV about our Horizons group and here it is….

Local group helps town grow

Makenzi Henderson

To help this KOTA Territory town grow in the right direction, some residents started a group devoted to the town’s development.

Formed only a year-and-a-half ago, the Whitewood Horizons Committee does everything from paint houses, to public education programs.

And now, Horizons members want area residents to do community development workshops across KOTA Territory, so they can gain more insight and advice on how Whitewood should grow and change.

Members say the group is vital to community development, because it gives voices to residents who may be too shy, or not interested in telling their opinions to city government.

Horizons also formed an ‘Economic Development Committee’ to apply for and receive grants.

Some seminars scheduled throughout South Dakota in the next two months include:

‘Affordable Housing’ on Feb. 25 in Kadoka

‘Launch ‘08 Entrepreneurship Conference’ on Feb. 28 in Mitchell.

‘Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Workshop’ on March 6 in Newell.

‘Marketing/Recreation/Tourism’ on March 26 in Phillip.

‘Governor’s Conference on Economic Development’ on April 8 and 9 in Pierre.
